UPDATE!!! 6 months of dedication!!

So.. my daughter's 4th Birthday is in May and I decided that I want to be that AWESOMELY IN SHAPE Mom that my daughter (& Hubby) can be proud to call Mommy (or Wife).

Therefore, I am doing one 90 Day TurboFire and one 90 Day ChaLEAN Extreme Round!!
I started Nov 1st and I will end on May 1st!! That is EXACTLY 6 months (or 182 days of WORKING HARD & PUSHING MYSELF).
I am joining Drew Manning (http://www.fit2fat2fit.com/) on his quest back to health! He is a personal trainer that is on a journey to lose the 75lbs+ he gained (ON PURPOSE) in order to empathize with his clients. What an amazingly selfless (all be it a little dangerous healthwise) thing to do to understand others better.

Cheer for me and JOIN ME, peeps!!

90 Days of Fire!!

So today (Nov 2nd) is officially my 2nd day of my 90 Day TurboFire Challenge to Myself! I actually started on Oct 29th but I wanted to use Nov 1st as the OFFICIAL day because it made tracking easier.
So far, these are the TurboFire workouts I have done:
Sat 10/29 - HIIT 15 (High Intensity Interval Training.. LOOOOTS of Plyo) & Stretch 10
Sun 10/30 - Fire 30 (Fire = Intense Cardio w/ some HIIT drills added in!)
Mon 10/31 - Fire 30  & Stretch 10 (& 1hr + of Trick or Treat Walking)
Tues  11/01 - Fire 30 & Stretch 10
Wed 11/02 - Today HIIT 15 & Stretch 10 & 1hr FREE TurboKick class @ the gym on base!

Here is what I have planned for the REST of the week & weekend:
Thurs 11/03 - Tomorrow  DAY OFF from TurboFire but I have 1hr of Command PT & I am hoping to make the 1715 -1830 BodyTone (ST -Strength Training-class).
Fri 11/04 - Fire 30  & Stretch 10 (& 1hr of Zumba w/ my girl Rieko)
Sat 11/05 - Fire 55 EZ & TRX @ the gym on base!
Sun 11/06 - Fire 30  & Stretch 10

WOOHOO!! That is LOTS of PT but I am excited to see what my results will be in 90 days. I let myself go a little after my promotion while my parents in law were in town and I regret that. I put on some weight but I am going to take those few lbs off and MORE!!

Please join me on my journey!! I would love a workout buddy!

SORE!!

So, I did my workout from 0300-0500 while on a break from work. OMG!!
I used the Body Sculpting Bible book and I am currently doing the workouts for Week 1.
I went really heavy on the Stiff Legged Deadlifts ~ 35lb Barbell ~ and now my hamstrings are REALLY feeling it! I also did a new squat for the first time. It is the Front Squat, where you place the bar in front of your neck/shoulders instead of behind it. It feels better to me but it makes it harder to maintain my balance.

I have been having some neck / trapezius pain for about 1 week. Naproxen, massage and chiro adjustments are NOT helping. Hmmm..I think I may have pulled a muscle. I am going to work through it and do an Active Recovery workout for my shoulder area where I max out at 10 reps. I am STILL going to try and get a massage today, because I DESERVE IT!!

Hope everyone has a HEALTHY and ACTIVE day!

Hugs!

AWESOME!!

So I have been SERIOUSLY FOCUSED on my strength training for about 1 week now and I am ALREADY seeing results!!

My Withing scale (AWESOME thing that calculates BF, LMM & total weight) recorded 115lbs of Lean Muscle Mass today!!

I know..I KNOW!! You are saying..WHAT WHAT WHAAAAT?

Yepper... 115lbs of moi (AKA Yours truly) is muscle.

I never realized how easily and quickly I could put on muscle doing mostly Strength Training!
GO HEAVY OR GO HOME!! That is my motto! Sooo, I did 3 sets of 15 reps of Deadlifts, Overhead Press, Bicep Curls, Bent Over Rows & Squats with a 22lb Barbell!! WOOT WOOT!!

And ALL of that was just a 20 minute warm before I did the 60 minute Kickboxing class!
I love this feeling! Hope everyone has or had as great a day as I did!!
HUGS!!

THANK YOU Random Guy at Purdy Gym!!

So there I was, yesterday 01 June, doing some stretches before Reiko's VERY FUN Wednesday Lunchtime Zumba class when a guy walks into the room do some jump rope. I didn't know if he knew that there was a class starting in 15 minutes, so I tell him. He says thanks and tells me he is only going to jump rope for about 10 minutes. As I am stretching I notice he has something with him. In his hand he is carrying this:

I ask him if I can check out the book and he says no problem, go ahead. I did a speed-read of the entire book while he jumped rope for his 10 minutes. When he was done, I asked him what he thought of book. He told me that be following it to the letter, he has lost 25 lbs!!  WOW!! I always knew Strength Training was AWESOME but.. 25lbs since February is great!

He proceeded to tell me that there is a WOMEN's version of the book too and that his friends wife bought the book at the Base Exchange!! So, I went to the store... LO AND BEHOLD... IT WAS THERE!!

I was so excited about this book that I read the ENTIRE BOOK, cover to cover, today. I was so intrigued by the book that I also went to one of the author's websites and downloaded 2 GREAT workouts. Dumbbell Only Natural Bodybuilding Workout for Women for Body Sculpting10 Sets of 10 Reps Natural Bodybuilding Workout for Women

I did the Dumbbell Only Monday A Workout which took about 1hr (65 minutes actually) and then did 25 minutes of my OWN version of a Dance-like/Zumbaish/Step Aerobicsy/Boxingish amalgamation to Electronic, Dance, Fitness/ Workout, Latin & Hip-Hop music. It was SO MUCH FUN!!

Time to go to bed soon because I am back at work tomorrow. Can't wait for tomorrow's workout!

SPARTAAAAAA!!!

So yesterday (Friday) I went to a Zumba class for the first time in FOREVER!! I had forgotten how mind and body intensive that class can be, especially when "Aunt Flow" is visiting. I was so worn out by the end of the class and I am pretty sore today. But, I look at the bright side.. I burnt a TON of calories!!

On a side note, I found an AWESOME website for people who want to push themselves physically and mentally. It is called the SPARTAN RACE!! Something that I LOVE about this website, they offer a military discounted Flat Rate entry fee for all the races. How cool is that?? I would definitely like to try the Spartan Sprint when I get back to the States. I think it would be AWESOME!

They have 4 levels of races:

1. The Spartan Sprint ~ 3 mile Mud RunEndurance Trail Race w/ 10+ Obstacles

2. The SUPER Spartan ~ 8 mile Mud Run Endurance Trail Racew/ 15+ Obstacles

3. The Spartan Beast ~ 10-12 mile Obstacle Race from Hell (DIRECT QUOTE from website)

4. The Spartan "Death Race"~ 48 HOUR Obstacle/Endurance/Trail Race WITH Mental/Physical Challenges!! 90% of people who enter the race DO NOT FINISH!!

Their motto is as follows:
A Spartan pushes their mind and body to their limits.
A Spartan masters their emotions.
A Spartan learns continuously.
A Spartan gives generously.
A Spartan leads.
A Spartan stands up for what they believe in, no matter the cost.
A Spartan knows their flaws as well as they know their strengths.
A Spartan proves themselves through actions, not words.
A Spartan lives every day as if it were their last.
I think everyone (including myself) needs to follow these rules DAILY!!

I am packing up my workout gear for later. I want to do some HEAVY LIFTING tonight! I also printed out the Dancer's Body Workout (by Heather Morris of Glee ~ <3 that show!!), a Kettlebell and a couple of other workouts from Women's Heath. Can't wait to go to the gym tonight!

Workout wise, I feel as though I am getting stronger. My pants are fitting REALLY loose, even though the numbers on the scale are not going down very much. The inches are what count to me!

Anyhooooo.. I will need to go take a nap before work tonight so that I am rested.

Have a great day!!
Hugs

I LOVE YOGA!

OMGosh!! I had forgotten how much I LOVE to do Yoga of all kinds (except Bikram.. BARF.. HOT YOGA is NOT my thing)!
The 1630 Relaxation Yoga class with Chieko at Fleet Rec was AWESOME! I know now that I really need to get back into taking classes with her because I have lost my flexibility for some of the poses. YES, I know am a HYPER SUPER EXTRA flexible person, but even I had some trouble with a couple poses.

I want to give a BIG HUG & KISS to the Hubby for picking up Mini-me while I was at the class!! He got off work 1/2 way through the class and then called me to say he was in the parking garage when I was done.

I am excited to see the June schedule for Fitness Classes! The BodyFit (Barbell) instructor said that they are going to do 2, possibly 3, classes in June! YAY!!
Today's workout is going to be the ChaLEAN EXTREME Fit Test and then Burn Basics and then so Yoga Booty Ballet for stretching!

Back to work tomorrow.. hope I can get away to do the Step & Sculpt class, but I doubt it since it is 90 minutes long. I am DEFINITELY going to the 1745-1845 Zumba, though.. even if I have to bug the guys I work with about ALL DAY LONG!!

I wonder if the classes are cancelled for Monday (Memorial Day). I am pretty sure 1 of the gyms will be closed since it is a Federal Holiday. Guess I will have to call the Navy Fitness office to find out!

Have a GREAT, PRODUCTIVE & HEALTHY day everyone!!

Hugs!

GREEEEAT WORKOUT!!

So I got off work at about 0845 this morning and RUSHED over to the gym. I wanted to make it in time for the 0900 BodyFit class (FREE.. <3 that word!!) that takes place every Saturday in May! BodyFit is a knock-off of the Les Mills BodyPump Class. And..IT WAS AWESOME!! OMGaaah!! I am nice and sore now.. but it is a GOOD sore. (Speaking of Les Mills.. I wish we could get BodyFlow/BodyBalance (Yoga/Tai Chi/Pilates combo) or Sh'Bam (Cardio Dance) here on base. BF/BB looks AMAZING and Sh'Bam looks SO FUN!

I don't know whyI let myself forget how much I like to workout during those times when I am feeling lazy and skip a couple days. Working out gives me SUCH a rush of GOOD feelings and energy. Aaaaah.. LOL!

Only 6 more weeks of my STUPID A$$ CRAZY schedule and then I will be back to a Mon-Fri day job. WOOT WOOT!! I CANNOT WAIT!! I will finally be able to workout at the gym twice a day again like I did BEFORE I was on these UNHEALTHY & COMPLETELY NOT CONDUSIVE TO SLEEP 12hr "daywalking" / "nightstalker" shifts. Sooo excited!! WEEEEEEEEE!!

On a sad note, I missed mini-me's DayCare B-day celebration yesterday (Fri). ( ; _ ; ) The daycare called (& WOKE ME UP) to remind me about it 2hrs before it was due to take place! Hubby couldn't go because he was at work and I absolutely NEED to sleep before work, so I couldn't go either. That is ANOTHER reason I am so happy to be going back to 8hr days. I can stop missing these little yet IMPORTANT things/milestones.

Otherwise, I had a good day. Took a nice nap (about 6hrs) and then helped Hubby clean out the office of boxes and random crap (3 BAGS OF TRASH) before hanging out for a little while before I headed to work.

Going to talk a walk later tonight to keep myself awake and alert. And for now, I am going to check my fave fitmess websites for a workout I can do here at work that needs no weights.

Hugs!

MOTIVATION !

Mother's Day Present to MYSELF!!

Sunday May 8th was a GREAT day! I woke up early with the mini-me and we took the jogging stroller on an almost three (YES.. 3) hour run/jog/walk from our house to Kinugasa JR Station and back. 9440 steps!! AND 4 miles!! WOW!!
During the roundtrip, we stopped at a couple playgrounds and ran around like crazy girls chasing pigeons and each other!
That day was the start on my journey. I have forgiven myself and everyone else for everything that has been keeping me from accomplishing my weight loss goal. I vow to myself to strength train and do cardio to lose inches and pounds to bring myself to a happy and healthy BMI!!

One of my downfalls though is that I am prone to what I like to call "Workout A.D.D".  LOL!! I get bored and lose motivation if I do the same type of video/workout over and over again. Soooo.. I use different websites, blogs, DVDs, YouTube Videos, etc.

Some of my favorite Fitness Magazine websites to find workouts are Shape, Women's Health (WH), and Self. Some of my fave videos from trainers who have posted on YouTube include: http://www.youtube.com/user/ChrisZFit & http://www.youtube.com/user/kbellqueen

I also LOVE Beachbody Workouts and Supplements!! I have ChaLEAN Extreme, P90X, TurboFire, Yoga Booty Ballet and SHAKEOLOGY! That drink is so tasty!
And right now, for a limited time, you can buy Shakeology & Slim in 6 TOGETHER and get 25% off Slim in 6!! SLIM & SHAKE SPECIAL!!

Some of the classes that I find to be SUPER are Zumba, Kickboxing, Relaxation and Power Yoga, Water Aerobics and BodyFit.

Yesterday I did an AWESOMELY great WH workout.. I am FEELING IT today!! I called the Barre Workout, because it is modeled after workouts that ballerinas do when they are holding onto the barre for support. You don't move very much, but WOW!!

Anyhooo... I am off to take a nap before work! I need to be rested so I can workout TONIGHT!!
